# COSMO360 · Real astronomical photographs

105 photographs and observation mosaics covering 88 constellations, from the public NOIRLab and ESO image archives. No generated images or constellation charts are included.

The 88 unannotated constellation portraits are from [NOIRLab's 88 Constellations project](https://noirlab.edu/public/news/noirlab2430/), photographed by Eckhard Slawik. These are photographic star fields, not computer-generated maps. Existing ESO photographs of wider fields and individual objects are retained.

Adaptations: responsive resizing and WebP compression. The full frame and source colours are retained; grid previews are cropped by CSS, while the feature image and enlarged viewer show the whole frame. Infrared/filter composites are labelled. Release dates are publication dates, not acquisition dates. Wide fields may include neighbouring constellations; object photographs do not represent the whole constellation.
